Struggle Bus Road Map
January 18 - Depression & Anxiety
January 25 - Addiction & Anger
February 1 - Trauma
February 8 - Generational Effect
Welcome Aboard!
Welcome to the Struggle Bus! There’s plenty of room aboard, as we all struggle from time to time, especially in the cold and dark months of January/February. Our prayer for this series, the reason that this all came into being, is to encourage and equip all of us to take steps off the struggle bus and towards freedom; to take steps toward healthy minds and towards healing. Those steps might look different for each of us, but we believe that there is a common thread through all of those words and that true & real freedom/healing/health are found in a person named Jesus.
We want to preface these evenings by saying that the church is NOT providing a therapy session, frankly we’re not fully qualified, but we do know that there are good and effective Christian counselors in our local area who are trained and equipped to help people take steps forward in their life journey. Check your hand out for a bunch of details
Finally, we want to start each of these evenings by introducing a concept that we believe provides the foundation for true healing. You may have heard of the biblical doctrine of God as a trinity; God is three distinct, unique parts (The Father, The Son & The Holy Spirit) but is also God is a singular entity we call… God. In a similar way, we as humans have three parts similar to how our God is a trinity. We have an eternal spiritual part, where we stand before God, we also have a soul part as well which houses our mind, our emotions, our feelings and thoughts and finally we have a physical body. All three are connected, all three are important and as a general broad rule, something that’s good for me in one of these parts, will be good for the other parts as well. Example, exercise is good for my mind and also can be good spiritually. The opposite may be true as well. Things that are unhealthy for one area will have negative effects on other areas of our lives.
The Bible also speaks of us humans in three parts as well where God literally creates a new spirit inside of us, we get a new heart/mind (soul) and a promise of a new body. We’re going to try and keep that concept in mind as we go forward and here we go!
